It is important for your supervising teacher to see your student’s work. Work Records are turned in weekly. Work Records include a list of the students’ academic activities for that period of time, and work samples from your student.
Your supervising teacher is there to help assess your child’s progress and help guide you in your homeschooling. Each student receives a checklist of grade level benchmarks to work toward in Language Arts, Math, and Science for the year.
Yes, in a typical year we will have various field trips, including our All School Field Trip for all students and their families, and the Older Group Field Trip, planned just for kids grades 4-8. We also have Park Days and special field trips.
Yes, please submit your child’s IEP or 504 Plan with your Pre-Enrollment Application. Please be aware that an Independent Study Program is not always the best means to meet the needs of every student.
At HBP, we have children in grades TK-8th. We all play together during the Open Days. Children move in and out of activities, following their own direction. Structured activities are offered as well as free play both in and outside the classroom. Typically, there are about 30 children present for each Open Day.
We hear this question often. The direction of your homeschooling depends on your goals, how your family works best, and your child’s needs. The HBP teachers are here to help you find your homeschooling path, and find the best way for your children to thrive and learn.
We’d love to have you join us! See Marianne to obtain a Pre-Enrollment Application. That will enter you in the next enrollment lottery. You must reapply each year, applications do not carry over.
No, HBP does not give our funds to families. We use the funds we get from the state to purchase curriculum and supplies, pay our specialists, pay rent at our site, and fund events.
We need to see your child at least 8 hours per month. If you are planning to take a trip, please check with your supervising teacher. We encourage traveling, but we also want to stay in touch.
Children sign up for classes that interest them, and their schedules may vary from term to term.
